Tavish & Katie's Blog for February 27th, 2015

                                                                                                                   February 27th, 2015

This week our Gecko's laid 2 eggs, however they were not buried deep enough and dried up.  :(
We decided as a class not to take the geckos out of their cage this week because they are breeding. :)
Black-dust is out and about and not hiding these days. However Gold-dust is being herself!
Both Golddust and Blackdust seem to be protective of the eggs.  We hope that Golddust lays more eggs before Spring Break.

This week has been  "Kindness" Week! We have had a lot of kindness in our class and school, sharing, offering friendship, and doing good deeds. On Monday we had 71 acts of Kindness,
on Tuesday we had 176 acts of Kindness, on Wednesday 181 acts of Kindness, and Thursday we had 194 acts of Kindness for a total of 551 ! Wow! How many will we get on Friday??
This week our class made giant heart's for Mr. Umali with a kindness thought like "we will pick our garbage off the floor ", "We promise to put our gym stuff in our gym bags", and "we promise to stack stools on the round table". These are a few examples that our class left out for Mr. Umali.

This week the Salmon are swimming up to feed more. They are getting bigger and bigger every week. Our class is going to the Little Campbell Hatchery before Spring Date to release our Salmon. This will be a fun fieldtrip. :)

Our class is learning our timetables, so an example is 2x2=4 or 5x5=25 or even 2x4=8!
Mrs. Mitchell read us Charlotte's Web and The Quilt. Both were terrific!!!

                                                                                                                            February 26th, 2015

On Monday we had an assembly on "Kindness". We are trying to be kind all week to everyone. On our Kindness tree so far we have 357 acts of kindness & its only Thursday! We had a live band that played Rumba music too!  In class this week we did a chemical experiment with the salmon's water. The water changes color when we did the experiment. It was interesting & awesome! We are planning our field trip to Science World and are very excited. The class is helping Mr. Umali clean the recycling, with promises of keeping it clean and organized. On the computers we are researching our animals. Kaila's animal is a horse and Christopher's is a Inland Taipan snake! It is fun!
We are learning to bounce a basketball while looking up in PE. We are also hoping our class pet Gecko's will lay some eggs soon. We are learning the 'times' table in Math. For Kindness week we got to use chalk to write nice/kind messages on the playground! Well that's all for now!

Kaida & Tessa"s Blog February 19th 2015

February 19th, 2015

This week we learned more about the Salmon. We learned about the Salmon's fins!
How they are swimming higher and higher in the tank. We are feeding them food so they are swimming to the top of the tank. This afternoon we are going to an assembly.  Yesterday we had a test on the map of Canada. It was hard! The Grade 3's had to do the Provinces and the Capitals and the Grade 2's had to do just the Provinces and the Territories. We finished our presentations. Yay!! We learned how to do "times" in Math. We also got to play with the Gecko's. Just Gold-dust came out to visit. Black-dust is very shy! We are learning how to play basketball in Gym this week. Today is also  Hot lunch day! Pizza!!! We had a substitute teacher this week, her name is Mrs Arding.  We have something called "Cafe" which means 'reading' ,yay! Next week is 'Kindness Week' and we are wearing Pink on Wednesday. We are doing our spelling test today. We hope we get it all right! We get to play 'Sparkle" today. In "buddies" yesterday we had to look for a book on 'kindness'. We also choose new buddies! It was fun. :)

Class Presentations

We started class presentations this week. Charlie's group went first. Adrian, Kamoryn and Sanjiya were also in Charlie's group. They presented "insects." Insects are arthropods which means they don't have an inside skeleton. A praying mantis is an arthropod.  Josie, Jamie, Riya, Logan and Alex were the second group presenting. They presented "amphibians." In the first stage, amphibians live their lives in the water with gills and tails. For the second stage, they have legs and lungs and live on the land. A mud puppy is an example of an amphibian. They're weird... They look like a fish and they can bark like a dog!

Our playgrounds were very muddy this week but we were still able to play outside on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
